酒精和药物滥用政策

(Approved by the Provost and Executive Vice President by authority of Executive Order No. 4; the Vice President for Human Resources by authority of Executive Order No. 9; and the Vice President for Student Life by authority of Administrative Order No. 10)



1.  政策

To help ensure the safety and well-being of employees, 学生, 志愿者, 以及普通大众, the 华盛顿大学 is committed to maintaining a campus environment that is free of illegal drugs, of drugs and alcohol that are 使用d illegally. 相应的, the University prohibits the consuming of alcoholic beverages on University property, except in accordance with 状态 of Washington liquor license procedures. WAC下 , , (2)(f), the University also prohibits the unlawful possession, 使用, 分布, or manufacture of alcohol or controlled substances that are illegal under federal, 状态, or local law on University property or during University-sponsored activities. Violation of the University's alcohol and drug prohibitions is ca使用 for disciplinary or other appropriate action.

2.  健康风险和制裁

员工, 学生, 志愿者 should be aware that:

  • It can be dangerous to 使用 and ab使用 alcohol and other drugs; and

  • Many illnesses and deaths have been medically-related to the 使用 and ab使用 of illegal drugs and alcohol; and

  • 的 University has declared itself to be a drug-free work and educational environment; and

  • 员工, 学生, 志愿者 who are found to be in violation of federal, 状态, or local law prohibiting the 使用 or possession of illegal drugs may be subject to arrest and conviction under the applicable criminal laws of local municipalities, 华盛顿州, 或者美国. Conviction can result in sanctions including probation, fines, imprisonment. 大学将协助员工, 学生, or 志愿者 who disclose that they have an alcohol or drug ab使用 problem by making referral for treatment and/or as described below in 第三节; however, those individuals remain responsible for resolving any alcohol or drug ab使用 problems they may have. 员工 and 志愿者 who violate this policy are subject to disciplinary action, 包括终止, 转介起诉. 员工 who are convicted of a criminal drug violation in the workplace must notify their supervisor within five calendar days. Students who violate this policy are subject to disciplinary sanctions including: warning and reprimand, 留校察看, 悬架, or dismissal in accordance with the Student Conduct Code (478 - 121 WAC章).

Any employee afflicted by alcoholism or drug dependency will have the same options as those with other illnesses do to participate in prescribed treatment programs, 包括使用带薪假期, 如果可用, 和无薪休假.

员工 and 学生 with health insurance should consult their health insurance plan to determine the treatment program coverage that may be available to them.

Human Resources Consultants are available to provide general information on University and other resources to help address alcohol and drug ab使用 problems, to assist employees and supervisors to address and resolve job performance or workplace behavior problems.  Academic Human Resources is available to provide assistance regarding alcohol and drug ab使用 problems involving academic personnel.
